This same paradox is evident as we move into Holy Week. The week started with Palm Sunday, a day of praise, faith, hosanna and joy. In a matter of days, we will identify ourselves with the crowds who turned their backs on Christ and shouted, "Crucify him! Crucify him!".
I'd like to think that I would not be in that crowd, that somehow I would have more faith. Yet how many times do I experience a hardship or inconvenience and call God's love and care into question? How often do I respond to circumstances as if God is not capable of making a difference? I stand at the foot of His cross and shake my head, wondering why he doesn't do what I think He should do.
