For family, however big or small, whether far or near. For the very gift of life, for warm smiles and hot pumpkin pie. For family challenges that give us the opportunity to grow in humility, love, patience and character. For family fun, lessons learned, wisdom shared and sacrifices made. For new life and the innocence of children and grandchildren that remind us of the joy to be found in simple things.
Each day is a gift to be unwrapped. We are serenaded by the beauty of nature in each season, by unexpected moments of compassion and friendship, by divine appointments and the chance to serve another in need.
When we speak gratitude, it triggers positive feelings, it tells our brain that we are to continue looking for what is praiseworthy, and it prepares us to receive more good. Speaking gratitude for an outcome, even before we experience it, makes this outcome even more certain.
So what are you thankful for today? Basic necessities? Comfort and conveniences? Family, friends, co-workers? Moments of joy, love, fun? Are you thankful for what the future holds and the successes that you envision are within reach? Are you thankful for the plans a loving God has for your life?
