Detoxing or doing a cleanse is something I do several times a year and get great benefit from. Doing the Master Cleanse is what started my journey to losing 45 pounds and choosing to live the healthier version of myself. Not yet convinced you want to join us? Then let me share my top 10 reasons for doing a detox/cleanse.
2.Cleansing helps purify the colon, strengthening the colony of good bacteria & microorganisms and rebalancing unhealthy bacteria or microorganisms. Some cleanses will add probiotics and other gut supplements to their program.
3.Cleansing can eliminate food triggers for a time, giving the body a rest from allergic reactions and allowing the immune system to strengthen.
4.During most cleanses, you will save money on groceries by avoiding expensive processed foods and snacks. Keep it simple.
5.Cleansing helps to break the food addiction cycle as additives, chemicals, flavorings, dyes a are eliminated from incoming foods and released from cells during the cleanse.
6.Cleansing helps to "reset" the taste buds so a greater diversity of flavors is enjoyed. Cleansing helped me fall in love with veggies and healthy foods.
7.Cleansing or detoxing, depending on the program, challenges me to try new recipes.
8.Cleansing and detoxing will often increase energy, as digestion is simplified and improved.
9.Cleansing often creates a greater sensitivity to the body's signals and needs.
10.Joining a community of others who are cleansing, and staying positive, can enhance the experience, increase learning, and fuel motivation to keep going. Join us in our Facebook group, New Year, New You.

As with any major health undertaking, seek the advise of a medical professional for your specific situation and needs. There are lots of doctors who understand the value of cleansing, fasting or detoxing, so be sure to find one who is open to discussing your desires with you.
Drink lots of water – as toxins are being released from the cells, water is needed to keep the toxins moving toward elimination. If toxins are not flushed from the body efficiently, they can be reabsorbed or circulate through the body causing headaches, muscle aches, and even flu-like symptoms.
Find Support - It is too easy to quit when the going gets tough, or we begin to give in to negative thinking. Let others encourage you and keep you on track. Online support groups exist for many detox programs (Master cleanse, 21 Day Clean Gut, New Year/New You)
Detox can be Emotional - as the cells begin to release toxins, sometimes strong emotions can also surface. This is normal and to be expected. Keeping a journal of your detox journey can be very enlightening and helpful.
To cleanse or not to cleanse, that is the question.
