On the days I remember, I make a game of looking for things that I can be grateful for. Personally, I love nature, birds, sunsets and delight in finding new blooms or varieties of flowers to enjoy. I find joy in the antics of children, in the funny things they say and do, especially my grandchildren.
Some days I humbly remind myself that I am much more comfortable than a vast number of people around the world who live in poverty and sickness. While my worries are important to God, I have opportunities and blessings that these people do not. I need to be grateful. I can also reach outside myself and my own troubles to be a blessing to the less fortunate that God puts in my path.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
