Without enough water, dehydration sets in and bodily functions are compromised. Bowels do not move well, so toxins are not eliminated efficiently causing aching muscles & joints, headaches, nausea or a challenged immune system. The risk of kidney stones and urinary tract infections also increases.
In the summer months, we tend to sweat more and so we need to be sure we are replenishing our bodies. Health experts agree that individuals need half their body weight in ounces of water each day to stay properly hydrated. Do you drink that many ounces of water each day?
To make drinking water easier and more desirable, I add fruits and essential oils to a large pitcher of water. The unique flavors makes drinking water more enjoyable and refreshing.

Refreshing Citrus Water
In a half gallon of filtered water, add two slices of lemon, 2 slices of orange and 3 drops each of Young Living lemon and orange (or tangerine) essential oil. Serve with ice on the side, as the oil will stick to the ice if added to the water.
Invigorating Raspberry Spearmint Water
In a half gallon of filtered water, add 2 Tbsp of frozen raspberries (squeezed slightly) and 2-3 drops spearmint essential oil.
Cinnamon Tangerine Tango
In a half gallon of filtered water, add 6 drops of YL Cinnamon Bark essential oil and 12 drops of YL Tangerine essential oil. Add orange wedges for added flavor and color.
Cucumber Mint Refreshment
In a half gallon of filtered water, add 1/2 sliced organic cucumber slices and 2 sprigs of mint leaves. Add 3 drops spearmint essential oil.
Licorice Flavored Water
In a half gallon of filtered water, add 6-10 drops of YL Fennel essential oil. This is one of my favorite water flavorings and is also beneficial for an unsettled stomach.
