You've probably heard the term "leaky gut" which basically refers to a compromised intestinal tract. Molecules are leaching into the body that are not meant to be outside the intestines. Inflammation and allergic reactions in organs, muscles, or various systems of the body are said to be the result. Many have linked this "leak" to migranes, heart conditions, aches and pains and much more.
Thinking that this could be a possibility for me, I have embarked upon the 21 Clean Gut cleanse and several others have joined me. We are on day 9 today. Up until yesterday, I have had more detox symptoms, been more tired and grumpy, than with any other cleanse I've done. At the advice of my doctor, I've been trying to reduce my wheat and sugar intake for years. It hasn't been easy, but at the end of last year my A1C was back to normal and triglycerides were almost normal. I suspect that this Clean Diet is going to indicate that wheat is one of my triggers. Overall, I think it has been an interesting and helpful journey so far. My hope? That my thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands will function better, my small belly roll and last 15 pounds will finally disappear, my brain will function more alertly and memory will be sharper, hair loss will diminish greatly, achy joints (which I have not had all week, hmmm?) will go away and overall I will sleep more deeply and not wake at night. Oh yeah, and that my eyesight will improve for reading so I can ditch the glasses and my hair will return to its natural color.
