You may already be aware that most commercial baby wipes contain a variety of toxic ingredients, such as parabens, propylene glycol, phthalates (fragrance), PEG's, phenoxyethanol to name a few. Do you really want to put these chemicals on your infant's bottom, especially on the sensitive skin where absorption happens easily?
You can make your own baby wipes in less than 10 minutes. They are amazingly effective, completely non-toxic, and so inexpensive. Why would you even bother with wipes with toxic ingredients? What do you have to lose?
It seems these wipes have truly transformed my granddaughters comfort and skin. It took me literally 5 minutes to make these wipes my first time, once the water was boiled and cooled and the ingredients were collected. Give it a try or share it with a mom you know.
1 & 3/4 cup water - boiled for 5 minutes and cooled. Water should still be warm.
1 Tbsp pure aloe vera gel
1 Tbsp pure witch hazel
1 tsp liquid castille soap
10 drops of Young Living essential oils - such as lavender, gentle baby, orange, stress away, myrrh, frankincense, etc. (avoid peppermint, wintergreen and hot oils such as Thieves)
1 roll sturdy paper towels - cut in half.
Container for storage
Optional additions: 1/2 tsp baking soda, vitamin E or 1/8 tsp grapefruit seed extract
(Keep going for all the steps...)
Add all liquid ingredients to the boiled water and stir.
Place 1 half of the paper towel roll in the container. (Save the other half for your next batch)
Pour the mixture over the paper towels. Attach lid securely.
Shake and roll until the towels are evenly coated.
Let sit for 5 minutes and remove cardboard tub from the center.
Seal container. Use by pulling towels from center of the roll.
Now wasn't that easy?
