Does this sound harsh? Maybe it is, but let's be honest. Are you living up to your potential? Are you utilizing your passions, stretching yourself to become more and enjoying greater satisfaction each day. Or are you just getting by? You have so much to offer this world!
Are you happy if your children or grandchildren do "enough" to get by in school, do their chores "well enough" or eat enough food to keep from starving? Do you want them to engage in life wholeheartedly and make a difference?
As I was reflecting on my goals for the New Year, this scripture hit me between the eyes. I have been given so much! I have food, comfort and opportunities. I have heat, hot water and employment. I have loving relationships, a business I am passionate about. I live in a country where I have the freedom and the opportunities to learn whatever I want, to work hard to achieve financial success, to choose healthy foods and activities.
I don't share these thoughts to provoke guilt or condemnation. I share them because I have been challenged to step up my game, to reach a bit higher so I can serve others in the world. If we are healthier, we will get off our couches and get involved in our families, churches and communities. If we work harder or smarter and are financially more successful, we don't need to feel guilty about our success, but can provide food, education, provisions for those in difficult situations, whether abroad or in our own backyard.
We have been blessed with so much! Let's not settle for being or having "enough", but ask God to show us what changes we can make in our lives so we can actively use the talents, gifts and opportunities He has given us to share our blessings with others.
